Kandy- Nuwara Eliya-Colombo
Day 1
Meet and greet at airport by our representative. Transfer to Kandy. (3 hours drive) If your arrival is in the morning you can make an enroot visit to elephant orphanage at Pinnawala. Check in at hotel. Evening visit to Daladha Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) where Lord Buddha’s relic tooth is being kept. It is considered the holiest place for Buddhists not just in Sri Lanka but the believers across the globe.
Day 2
Early morning drive to Nuwareliya. You will experience a picturesque drive over hills of tea plantation. Nuwareliya is a former British hill station. Vestiges of colonial rule are found everywhere from the fine golf course threading through town of the creaking grand hotels. Nuwareliya remains as the highest and coolest town in Sri Lanka. There are attractive walks around the small town, which has lawns, parks, an Anglican church to the south of town are the racecourse and Lake Gregory which is a beautiful sight where boats can be hired. After lunch we will return from Nuwareliya, on our way back we will have an opportunity to witness how tea is being produced. You can also taste a cup of tea at the tea center, where you can select from many varieties. Continue to hotel in Kandy and relax.
Day 3
Today you will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. Conceived originally in 1371 as the Queen’s Pleasure Garden. The park was converted into a 60 hectare Botanical Garden in 1821. Arguably the finest of their kind in Asia are extensive well kept lawns, pavilions, an orchid house with an outstanding collection, an octagon conservatory, fernery, banks of bamboo, and numerous flower borders with cannas, hibiscus, chrysanthemums, croton and colorful bougainvilleas. You will see unusual exotic species, especially palms (Palmyra, talipot, royal, cabbage) and ficus elastica elastic, an amazing avenue of drunken looking pines, and some magnificent old specimen trees. In all there are about 4000 labeled species. Then you can proceed to do some shopping for your loved ones at home or for yourself to remember this journey. In the evening you will experience the Kandyan and cultural dance show.
Day 4
Drive to Colombo. Colombo is commercial capital, busy and vibrant with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings. Visit the center of commerce and trading- the fort and pettah, and the cinnamon gardens area which is Colombo’s most fashionable residential address. And then visit the old Wolfendhal Dutch Church (built in 1749), Hindu temple, the famous Gangarama temple situated on the Beira Lake and the Devatagaha Mosque. Other highlights will be old and new parliaments, independence square and Galle Face Green.
Day 5
Transfer to airport for your next flight.
