Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, playing second fiddle only to water. It is in almost every culture, and there are literally thousands of varieties.
Tea tasting is the process in which a trained taster determines the quality of a particular tea. Due to climatic conditions, topography, manufacturing process, and different clones of the Camellia sinensis plant (tea), the final product may have vastly differing flavors' and appearance. These differences can be tasted by a trained taster in order to ascertain the quality prior to sale.
Tea tasting is generally done in tea exporting establishments for it's tea buyers.

YALA SAFARI

YALA SAFARI

The second largest national park in Sri Lanka, Yala is situated in the Southeast part of the island in the dry, semi-arid climate region, bordering the Indian Ocean. The number of mammals recorded at Yala is as high as 44 and 215 bird species while it also boasts of one of the highest leopard densities in the world. None other than the majestic Sri Lankan elephant and the leopard, take pride of place at this amazing national park.

The best time to visit Yala is between February and July when the water levels of the park are quite low, bringing animals into the open.

DOLPHIN & WHALE WATCHING

DOLPHIN & WHALE WATCHING

The whale watching season in Kalpitiya and Mirissa is in full swing by January every year with whales and dolphins parading their presence in the Sothern and North-Western oceans of Sri Lanka.

In the oceans around Kalpitiya sperm whales, Blue Whales, pigmy sperm whales and pilot whales gather in large pods of fifty to hundred members, some in water as shallow as 30 meters, with large concentration gathering around Dutch reef. The whales are accompanied by large pods of Spinner Dolphins who could be found within a just one hour boat ride from Kalpitiya harbour. Other than the most common, the spinner dolphins, other species including Risso's Dolphin, Bottle nose Dolphin and Striped Dolphin too makes appearance although not as frequently or in such large numbers.

Meanwhile Blue whales, Bryde´s whales, Sperm whales, Fin whales, bottle nose dolphins, common dolphins and spinner dolphins grace the waters of Southern Seas of Sri Lanka from Weligama to Mirrissa and can be found within just eight to ten nautical miles from Mirissa harbor.

The main Icon of this city is The Temple of the Tooth (Daladha Maligawa) where Lord Buddhas' relic tooth is kept.
